Happy Fall

Updated: Mar 30

September 22nd is the first day of FALL and the beginning of a new season, new colors, a change of weather and a change of foods.  It is also the beginning of the holiday season.  I absolutely LOVE this time of year.  Now that I live in a cooler climate, I get to actually see a season change.  The trees on the next property have turned yellow and my persimmons trees are losing their leaves.  Tonight the weather will drop into the 60’s.  I am so excited!  While the changes are gradual – it is evident we are entering a new season. This weekend I am going to pull out my layered clothing, boots, and sweaters.  This is a different lifestyle than Miami where you only have a day here and there of cool weather.

For the next 5-6 months we will have cooler nights, less humid days, a seasonal change that brings us different foods and the beginning of a holiday season!

Pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup – oh my! Roasted squash, apple cider, roasted pumpkin seeds, pecan pie, brussel sprouts, slow cooked short ribs and so much more! Fall produce is full of antioxidants and natural fiber from brussels sprouts and pumpkin to parsnips and persimmons. Making a change in your diet with the seasonal foods helps to promote a healthy gut.  It gives your gut the change to balance out the healthy bacteria. Look for some incredibly delicious recipes for fall foods in upcoming newsletters. Life has been tough the past 16 months so let's take a step forward, embrace the season and enjoy!
