FEBRUARY CELEBRATIONS

FEBRUARY is HEART month, BLACK HISTORY month, and of course, VALENTINE’S DAY!

Each of these mean love to me.  HOW? February has literally hundreds of celebrations – one I like is National Drink Wine Day – February 18th!  But, seriously, these celebrations represent love to me. Valentine’s Day is a day to tell those you care about how much you love them – especially your romantic interests!  Don’t we do that all year round?  Maybe – but it is an opportunity to allow another person FEEL how special they are to you.  How incredible to be able give that gift to another person!!!! Black History Month is a time to recognize contributions of incredible people who are amazing and who have overcome challenges.   I highlighted just a couple of women.

Mae Jemison is an American physician and the first African Woman Astronaut.  Born in Alabama, she is also an accomplished author of 5 books.

Erin Jackson - the first black woman to earn a GOLD speedskating medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics (2/13/2022)

Madam Walker is the FIRST female self-made millionaire in America.  As you can see by her picture, there was also a stamp made after her. Finally HEART Month.  This I wrote about in my article “OBESITY”.  Do you love yourself enough to take care of your heart – an organ critically important to your existence.  Can you take care of your health with 20 minutes 4-5 days a week and cut back on sugar?  Can I love myself more than those cookies or ice cream or coca cola?  I make it sound simpler than most people see it.  But perhaps that is your beginning - seeing it as loving yourself enough to take care of yourself.
